EU and US to table on exchange e-evidence

The European Union and the United States are going to negotiate the exchange of electronic evidence in criminal cases.

A lot of data to track down European criminals are stored on American servers. For example, it may involve e-mails or other digital communications that can serve as evidence in a criminal case. Access to this would make Europe safer. A precondition is that data protection, privacy and civil rights are guaranteed, since American investigation services could also collect material from European telecom providers on the basis of reciprocity.
