EU and London agreement on transitional period

The EU reached an agreement in principle with the United Kingdom on a transitional period following the British departure on 29 March 2019.

These were agreed between Brussels and London after feverish negotiations in Brussels. During the transition period, the British remain involved in the decision-making on the European fish quotas, but have no further say about new or amended EU legislation.

According to EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier, the agreement that is presented to EU leaders on Friday is 'a decisive step in the negotiations on an orderly British departure'.
