Envoy Pope hears story victim abuse

In the abusive scandal around the Chilean bishop Juan Barros, Charles Scicluna, the Vatican's envoy, heard the first testimony of an abuse victim.

The bishop of Osorno is accused of having protected a pedophile priest who has committed himself to minors.

' For the first time, I feel that we are being listened to '', said victim Juan Carlos Cruz after his conversation with Scicluna in New York.

The envoy travels to Chile where he will hear more victims next week.

Pope Francis kept Barros above his head earlier this month because there was no evidence for his involvement. He apologized for his choice of words during the return flight to Rome.

The Chilean victims claim that Barros knew of the abuses and that he even attended when they were abused by the priest in 2011. The perpetrator was found guilty of the abuse by the court of the Vatican.
