Emergency operation presidential candidate Bolsonaro

The Brazilian presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro has undergone late surgery on Wednesday evening to restore stitches to his intestinal walls.

The right-wing politician was stabbed last week during a campaign meeting in the state of Minas Gerais. Bolsonaro has been in the hospital ever since and can no longer campaign because of his injuries. In the most recent opinion polls of last Tuesday, he is the most popular with 26 percent. The elections are on 7 October.
