Eight dead after attack with knives in Xinjiang

In the turbulent region of Xinjiang in western China have three men with knives inserted at passersby.

The stabbing took place in the city of Hotan. About the background and details of the circumstances was nothing known. Also, nothing was said about the identity of the attackers. Xinjiang has long existed tensions between Chinese and Muslim Uighurs.

Many Uighurs complain of oppression. The Chinese government is taking firm action against separatists and terrorists. The former East Turkestan was annexed by the People's Republic after the Communist takeover in 1949.
