Dutch children most at reception

Three quarters of Dutch children under three years received care in 2014.

Of all European countries, Dutch parents made the most use of nurseries, kindergartens and other forms of childcare. Across Europe, half of all children in total was collected to three years. In Western Europe, children were collected more frequently than in Eastern Europe. Thus, only 27 percent of Bulgarian children were collected, compared to 77 percent in the Netherlands.

Yet Dutch children spent a few hours in daycare. This is because in countries made extensive use of child work part-time more often.
