Dozens of deaths in collision on Kenyas main road

In a head-on collision between a truck and a bus, at least 36 people were killed in the west of Kenya on Sunday and eleven injured.

The bus was on its way to the capital Nairobi in the night and was collided with a truck about 25 kilometers west of the city of Nakuru. Local media cite authorities who say the bus was on the wrong side of the road.

The main road where the collision occurred, between Nakuru and Eldoret, is notorious for the many fatal accidents that happen. The local police calls the most dangerous part of the road a black spot, the Salgaa Blackspot. According to the newspaper The Daily Nation in 2017, ten serious accidents have happened in which more than one hundred deaths have occurred with those of Sunday.
