Designer Spider-Man died

The American comic strip author Steve Ditko died at the age of ninety.

Ditko invented superhero Spider-Man together with Stan Lee in the early sixties with publisher Marvel Comics. Lee had commissioned Ditko to design Spider-Man, after he was dissatisfied with the work of Jack Kirby, another big name at Marvel. Then Ditko invented the familiar appearance of Spider-Man, such as the red-blue costume.

In 1966 Ditko left Marvel after, as is supposed, disagreement with Lee. Later he would return there. Ditko also worked for competitor DC Comics. He tried to stay out of publicity as much as possible.
