Defender demands acquittal Karadzic

The trial against the former leader of the Serbs in Bosnia, Karadzic, has been unfair.

Karadzic was sentenced to 40 years in prison by the Yugoslavia Tribunal in 2016 after a five-year trial for his role in ethnic cleansing in the civil war-torn country. The judges found him guilty of genocide in Srebrenica where thousands of Muslim men were executed in 1995.

Karadizic was the political leader of ethnic Serbs who wanted to prevent Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially under pressure from Western powers, becoming independent from Belgrade. They feared being a minority dominated by Bosnian Muslims. The tribunal was established in 1993 by the UN for the trial of serious crimes during the extermination wars in the former Yugoslavia.
