Dead by explosion in Syrian city Idlib

At least 23 people were killed by an explosion in the Syrian city Idlib.

The explosion would have hit the headquarters of a small rebel movement. Ambulances and rescue workers rushed to save wounded people. Victims are buried under the rubble of the rebel building and surrounding houses, reports the Observatory. Nothing is known yet about the cause of the explosion.

Rebels expelled the Syrian government army in 2015 from Idlib, the capital of the province of the same name. The regime and its allies began an offensive in October last year to regain control of Idlib and the province of Hama. The most important rebel movement in Idlib is the radical-Islamic Tahrir al-Sham.
