Court completely misses board

The European Court reaps criticism with its decision that the European Parliament does not have to publish the expense allowance for its parliamentarians.

' I think the verdict is completely incorrect '', complains SP Euro MPs De Jong. The judge wrongly sums up the receipts under private dates that would not have to be public, according to the socialist. MEPs 'use taxpayers' money and have to show that they spend it neatly'.

In addition to their generous salary of one tonne, members of the European Parliament receive around four thousand euros per month for expenses. Several journalists have requested access to the receipts that are being declared, but the leadership of parliament has always put a stop to this.
