Countries Venezuela threatened with suspension OAS

Fourteen South and Central American countries to remain there Thursday in Venezuela urged swift elections and release political prisoners.

The suspension is the extreme measure that should be used only if diplomatic efforts fail, the countries had to know. The group of countries, including the United States, Mexico, Canada and Brazil, called on Venezuela also urged to recognize the legitimacy of the parliament. President Nicolas Maduro has limited the influence of the parliament end of 2015 after a major electoral victory of the opposition.

'We are not out to exclude Venezuela from the OAS at this time. We ask Venezuela urgently to follow the law as quickly as possible to hold elections, 'said Mark Toner on behalf of the US State Department.
