Conservatism in the world creates more AIDS

For the first time in thirty years, AIDS prevention has gone a long way.

Conservative policy is a problem especially in Eastern Europe; the number of new HIV infections has increased by 60 percent since 2010. According to the Aidsfonds, Russia and Ukraine are 'real fires. 'Under the Russian President Putin, for example, a law was passed in 2013 that prohibits 'the distribution of homosexual propaganda'.

Almost 37 million people worldwide are infected with HIV, but only 20 million people have access to medicines. In order to deal with the other 17 million and to achieve the UN goal of 'Aids out of the world in 2030' in the coming years, we now need 7 billion dollars.

It is a concern of the Aidsfonds that there has been a lot less money for AIDS prevention in the last two years. 'Governments now have other priorities. '

The United States has been the largest donor so far, but if it is up to President Donald Trump, that's a big drawback, fears a spokesperson for the Aidsfonds.

On the occasion of World AIDS Day on 1 December, Aidsfonds starts Tuesday with the campaign 'Stop AIDS. Out of love for all loves. 'The fund is therefore calling on everyone to help put an end to the AIDS epidemic.
