Comey had to resign at the FBI via media

James Comey was not informed beforehand about his resignation as director of the FBI.

Initially, Comey thought it was a joke. Only when his employees began to walk nervously back and forth, he stopped his speech. In a small office, Comey realized that dismissal was pure seriousness.

His official resignation letter was delivered to Washington at a later date.

FBI directors are appointed for a term of ten years, precisely to keep out the influence of politics as much as possible. Comey was nominated by President Obama at the time nearly four years ago.

Formerly, Andrew McCabe is currently in charge of the FBI head.
