Colombia closed down hundreds of drug laboratories

Colombian police destroyed in five days over a hundred cocaine laboratories.

The 104 laboratories were good for producing more than one hundred tons of cocaine per year. The large-scale police operation took place in jungle area in the southeast of the country and is part of a new strategy to combat drug production. In this way the government is trying to protect the poor farmers who grow coca plants.

The laboratories were put on fire.
