Colombia and ELN want to extend file

The Colombian government and rebel group ELN have indicated that they want to extend the current truce.

The insurgents and the Colombian government are negotiating a peace agreement in Ecuador, as was previously also concluded with the FARC. They agreed a temporary ceasefire last year, which ends on Tuesday. Espinosa said that both parties have shown willingness to extend that file. She called it a priority that actually effect.

ELN has an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 fighters. The organization is mainly known in the Netherlands for the kidnapping of television producer Derk Bolt and his cameraman.
