City Columbia prohibits use of bumpstocks

The capital of the state of South Carolina, Columbia, is the first city in the United States to officially ban the use of so-called bumpstocks.

The city council of Columbia agreed on Tuesday with the measure that forbids the mechanism in the vicinity of the city to be attached to a weapon. The possession of a bumpstock is not prohibited.

Massachusetts is the first American state that completely banned the devices last month. According to the authorities, the shooter in Las Vegas, Stephen Paddock, had equipped twelve guns with bumpstocks in his hotel room. From the hotel room he attacked the audience of a festival.
