Chinese population finally declined

The size of the Chinese population has declined for the first time in 2018 for at least 70 years.

The government tried to temper the population growth for decades, but in 2016 threw the helm radically out of fear of aging. For example, the maximum number of children per family was increased to two. When the (maximum) one-child policy was discontinued, an estimated 16.5 percent of the population was older than 60 years.
