China promises measures emissions

China on Wednesday announced measures to reduce pollution by power companies.

Beijing also promised to reduce annual CO2 emissions from coal plants with 180 million tons in 2020. Beijing is currently confronted with serious air pollution. The city gave earlier this week off code orange, the second highest level of alert.

China comes with its commitments on the third day of the climate summit in Paris. There, nearly 200 countries negotiate an agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and thus combat global warming. China is one of the biggest polluters in the world.
