China does not talk about new sanctions

If the United States indeed comes with new import duties on Chinese products, the planned trade negotiations with Washington will not take place.

China and the United States would discuss trade later this month. Washington had suggested the talks, but decided at the same time to continue preparing new levies. The details of this may already be published on Monday. China does not want to negotiate 'with the barrel of a gun to his head', according to one official.

US President Donald Trump may announce $ 200 billion of new import duties on Chinese products. The Americans are said to be using 10 percent tariffs for products shipped from China to the US. That is less than the 25 percent levies that Trump and his colleagues would have considered earlier.

The president made clear before the weekend that he wanted to continue with the plan of substantially more levies. Washington has already introduced rates on 50 billion dollars of Chinese products.
