China again gets thousands of apps offline

The Chinese authorities have removed over 9300 apps for smartphones in three weeks time.

The internet watchdog is working on a six-month campaign to clean up the internet. For example, the apps and websites that are taken offline may contain flat humor or forbidden information. For example, a popular news app from technology company Tencent was used by the government department to distribute 'vulgar' material. That would be detrimental to the 'digital ecosystem'.
