Chilean \u0026 antipoetet \u0026 # x27; Parra (103) died

The Chilean poet and mathematician and physicist Nicanor Parra died at the age of 103.

Parra, who called himself an 'anti-poetry' to distance himself from literary fattening, is considered one of the most important poets of the 20th century in South America. An early work from 1954 (Poemas y antipoemas) was a source of inspiration for the American Beat Generation, with the figureheads Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.

Parra, who remained active, provocative and eloquent until his death, received the Cervantes Prize in 2011 for his extensive oeuvre, a coveted award for a Spanish-speaking writer.
