Chemical explosion port in Brazil

In the port of the Brazilian city of Santos, Thursday was a chemical explosion.

The containers were stored acid and disinfectant. The content is likely to come into contact with rainwater, causing a chemical reaction. The harbor area and nearby houses were evacuated. In the wider area people are advised to stay indoors and close windows and doors.

A number of people with respiratory problems is admitted to the hospital. Authorities warn of acid rain, which can be caused by the chemicals that have ended up in the air. Who in contact therewith can cause serious burns.
