At least nine people were killed on Friday by a dam in the south of Brazil and a subsequent mudflow.

About 430 people lived in the area of ​​the state of Minas Gerais, 279 of whom were rescued. It is feared that the number of victims will still increase. Among them would be many employees of Vale SA, the operating company of a nearby iron ore mine.
