CBS numbers: We make a call and get a little off in the car

What everyone has known for a long time is finally confirmed by hard numbers: one in eight drivers says that they can chat behind the wheel.

This is evidenced by a survey by the CBS under 3500 motorists published today. 'We are dealing with a so-called zero measurement for the driver's behavior behind the wheel,' says researcher Maarten Bloem. 'Thus, we show that the use of a smartphone is really a big problem. '

'Hands-free calling is the most common way to use the mobile phone behind the wheel and 38 percent of motorists do this too. But 11 percent of the drivers rudely give hands on the phone while calling, 'says Bloem.
