Causes and wounded after French election

During riots on the evening of the first round of the French presidential election, the police arrested 29 people.

Six police officers and three protesters became light-wounded. Especially at Place de la Bastille and Place de la République it had collided. At the vote, the right-populated Marine Le Pen and Social Liberal Emmanuel Macron qualified for the second round on 7 May.

Anti-fascist and anti-capitalist groups had called for a 'Night of the Barricades' on the election evening through posters and graffiti. The police were massively present.
