Car-free Sunday in 41 Belgian cities

In 41 Belgian cities and municipalities Sunday is not allowed to take the road by car.

'By car-free streets, cities and municipalities are not only more livable, but sustainable transport is also good for the environment and health', says Organizer Network Sustainable Mobility The season of car-free Sundays began in Leuven on August 26. Sunday, September 16 the highlight with 41 municipalities including Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent and Mechelen.

In total, there are 48 Flemish cities and municipalities this year that choose to block motorized traffic for a day and give the street back to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
