California uses a thousand firefighters against forest fires

The American state of California is deploying more than a thousand firefighters to fight the wildfires that flared up a few days ago.

The fires are currently raging in the hills above the city of Ventura, about 80 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles. They have already laid over 20,000 hectares of nature in the ashes. The deployed firefighters mainly try to protect houses from the fire.

The fires now have a quarter of a million houses without electricity. Several schools have been closed as a precaution. The number of victims is so far. Three firefighters with injuries were taken to a hospital.
