Bulgaria wants to become a euro country

Bulgaria wants to start the procedure within six months to join the euro zone.

'Bulgaria has a stable currency, economic growth of 4 percent and low unemployment. We are ready to take place in the waiting room of the euro zone, 'said Prime Minister Boko Borissov. According to Sofia, the country meets all requirements and accession is 'no risk' for the euro zone.

In the country, the lev is still paid. The exchange rate of the national currency has, however, been linked to that of the euro for years. The condition for the level of the national debt of a maximum of 60 percent of GDP also suffices with 26.8 percent with ease and there is no budget deficit. Nevertheless, Bulgaria is the poorest EU country and corruption remains a major problem.
