British volunteer who fought with Kurds killed

A British woman who fought with Kurdish militias died in Syria.

Campbell initially joined the so-called Female People's Protection Units (YPJ) to combat terrorist organization IS, say sources against The Guardian. The woman would have begged her commanders later to be sent to Afrin, where the Kurds are fighting against the Turks and their allies.

'They refused first, but she insisted. She even dyed her blonde hair black to stand out as a Westerner, 'said a YPJ source. 'Eventually they gave in and she was allowed to go. 'Friends of the deceased woman in Syria say that a Turkish airstrikes her eventually life costs.

Campbell's father told the BBC that his daughter was 'idealistic' and 'very determined'. 'I feel like I should have done more to persuade her to come home, but she was adamant. '
