Brazil reads alarm about small baby head

Brazil is deeply concerned about the sharp increase in cases of babies who are born too small skull.

In newborns in the state of Pernambuco were born this year 141 children with microcephaly, while the number in previous years was stabbing at about ten, reported the Ministry of Health. Also in the neighboring states of ParaĆ­ba and Rio Grande do Norte has been a rising number of cases.

The condition can have various causes, including infection with rubella, alcohol abuse and excessive radiation exposure. Also, a genetic variant is possible.

The Ministry has announced an investigation and send specialist doctors to the area.
