Boris Johnson is a Swiss mummy

British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson turns out to be descended from a mummified woman in Switzerland.

Researchers have wondered who the woman was since the mummy was found in 1975 during renovations in a church in Basel, reports the BBC. There she lay just before the altar, clearly well fed and in good quality clothing, so she must have been a rich woman.

The body was forgiven of mercury, a remedy that was used against syphilis from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, but was often fatal. The body was mummified by the mercury.

Last year it turned out that the woman had already been excavated before, in the nineteenth century. As a result, the researchers suspected that she was a member of an important family in Basel, the Bischhoff family. DNA research confirmed that the body was from Anna Catharina Bischoff, on which her descendants could be traced.

By the way, the woman had contracted syphilis because she took care of infected patients.
