Boat with migrants possible to Malta

The ship Lifeline of the German organization Mission-Lifeline, which with around 230 picked up migrants on board in the Mediterranean Sea, could possibly build in Malta.

But according to French government circles, a deal is near. French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on the matter with the Maltese Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat, on Monday.

For the time being, the Lifeline can not go to Malta or Italy. Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini accuses the Mission-Lifeline of human smuggling and of sailing with an illegal vessel. The reason was that the boat formally does not sail under the Dutch flag, but that the tricolor does fly on the mast at the stern. The boat would be about 50 kilometers off the coast of Malta.
