Blunder at Oscars

The Oscar for best film yet gone to Moonlight.

The show thus ended in a thrilling climax, when actor Warren Beatty initially said La La Land, the Oscar won for best film. While director Damien Chazelle was already working on his acceptance speech, Beatty appeared to have read the wrong title. Insofar as is known never made such a mistake in this category.

The drama Moonlight won in the night from Sunday to Monday three Oscars, including the prize for best film. The story of a dark gay teenager also won the awards for best screenplay and best supporting actor (Mahershala Ali).

Most prices, six pieces, went to La La Land. The musical, which tells of the love between a jazz pianist and actress, was among other statuettes for best actress (Emma Stone), music and camera work. The 32-year-old director Chazelle won a statuette; he set a record as the youngest winner in this category ever.
