Belgium arrested 16 smugglers

In Belgium have been arrested in the first sixteen traffickers two months of this year.

Of the sixteen, eleven were arrested in the coastal region Furnes, not far from the French border. Police picked up the other five around the port of Zeebrugge.

Last week six smugglers were arrested, but that does according to the OM not related to the checks at the French border, Belgium instituted last week. Belgium was about to do so for fear that migrants from Calais to cross the border and continue saving their northern camp.

Incidentally, more people were arrested on suspicion of smuggling, but they were released for lack of evidence.
