Belgium and Denmark prolong border control

Belgium and Denmark remain provisional control their borders.

Belgium extends the controls along the border with France in the coastal strip of twenty days. The southern neighbors want this to stop migrants who have left the camp in the French Calais. If necessary, re-applied for renewal, according to Interior Minister Jan Jambon.

Denmark still wants to extend the checks at borders with Sweden and Germany until April 3, a commission spokesman announced Thursday.

Countries such as Germany and Austria continue to monitor their borders. The European Commission and EU President Donald Tusk do have an understanding of the national measures but continue to insist that the passport-free Schengen zone must be restored.
