Belgians mourn and help on social media

Many Belgians Tuesday searched social media to inform themselves and to pour out their hearts about the attacks in Brussels.

The hashtags #prayforbrussels and #jesuisbelge, which were used soon, recall the attacks in Paris in November and January last year. When expressed tweeters with #prayforparis and #jesuischarlie their solidarity.

Under the hashtag #ikwilhelpen offer Brussels and Belgians from outside the capital their help to people stranded by the attacks. Motorists undertake to pick up hitchhikers or even want to start a shuttle service. Under the heading #porteouverte residents make their homes open for evacuated students, workers and local residents.

During the police operations in recent times against terror suspects, the police asked social media users to share any details of the actions to the suspects not wiser. They posted them massively images of cats. Now such action no question, possibly because the hunt barely started on the perpetrators.

A good number Brussels are old took to the streets to seek support and to give vent to their dismay. In many sidewalks and pavement pieces they have written with chalk slogans and messages of outrage, comfort and encouragement. Images of them appear again on social media.
