Belgian village evacuated to toxic cloud

Belgian authorities on Friday cleared a village in West Flanders due to a leak of nitric acid.

Residents of several hundred homes have been evacuated because of the spill. On photo to see photos and videos on the Internet are ocher clouds hovering above the buildings. The municipal emergency plan has been activated. There are no reports of injuries.

The spill is likely to emerge when the nitric acid was discharged at a fattening farm in the village. Nitric acid can cause burns on contact with skin.
