Belgian jihad recruiter gets 15 years jail

The Belgian jihad recruiter Khalid Zerkani have to fifteen years in jail for recruiting people to fight in Syria.

He was also prosecuted for the lead along with fellow suspect Fatima Aber Kane in a terrorist organization. The penalty for Aber Kane was almost doubled, from eight to fifteen years. Two other women were sentenced to shorter prison sentences.

According to the Public Prosecution, the 42-year-old Zerkani the largest recruiter of jihadists in Belgium. He would have recruited among others Abdelhamid Abaaoud and Chakib Akrouh, both involved in the attacks in Paris in November. Najim also Laachraoui, which blew up last month at Brussels Airport, would be recruited by him.
