Baby Mercy begins her life on lifeboat

Aboard a rescue ship on the Mediterranean is a baby into this world.

The delivery took place last weekend aboard the Aquarius, the ship on which SOS Mediterranee refugees and other migrants saves the rickety boats to bring North African traffickers them to sea.

The dangerous route still widely used, revealed Tuesday the latest figures of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). So far more than 16 000 migrants have arrived in Italy this year. Last year arrived there nearly 14 000 people in the same period. This year already about five hundred people drowned en route.

The other route from Turkey to Greece, is now a year locked. The total number of migrants reaches Europe is considerably lower than for the 'refugees deal.
