Australia agrees with gay marriage

The Australian parliament has approved gay marriage after a long and fierce national debate.

The Senate in Australia already preceded the House of Representatives last week in the adoption of the bill. Prime Minister Turnbull said on Thursday after the vote: 'Today we voted for equality, for love. 'Immediately after the vote, a huge cheering broke out in the public gallery.

The law will come into force in about a month. The first couples immediately reported for a marriage in January.
