Atheists are more intelligent than believers

People who are religious are generally less intelligent than atheists.

The participants had to indicate whether they considered themselves atheistic, religious or agnostic (do not know if there are higher powers). Then they had to perform twelve tasks in half an hour, which involved planning, reasoning, concentration and memory.

The unbelievers performed better than the believers, even if factors such as age and educational level were taken into account, reports The Independent. The agnostics were with their performance between the other two groups.

The researchers assume that religious are used to trusting their intuition more. This was also evident from a test in which both feeling and logic could be answered.
