Arrests for leaks in Vatican

Two members of a committee of Pope Francis have been arrested for leaking confidential information to the press.

The Vatican has announced Monday that the Spanish priest Lucio Angel Vallejo Balda and Francesca Immacolata Chaouqui who is not a cleric, were arrested. Both are members of a papal commission that dealt with reforms within the Roman Catholic Church.

The arrests are just before the publication in Italy of two books, which, according to the publishers new information would be on scandals in the Vatican. Chaouqui Monday released after they had agreed to cooperate in the investigation.
