Army Syria claims victory in East Ghouta

The Syrian army reports that all armed groups have left from East Ghouta, the former rebel enclave near Damascus.

The battle group that controlled the city, Jaish al-Islam (Army of Islam), agreed earlier this month with a retreat. Buses transported fighters, their families and citizens who wanted to leave for northern Syria. SANA reports that army units have been looking for backward mines and explosives.

Progressive troops began an offensive in February to regain East Ghouta. The battle was accompanied by heavy bombing and artillery bombardments. In Douma, about a week ago, the alleged chemical attack took place that triggered air strikes on targets in Syria for the Americans and their allies.
