Armenian demonstrators block roads

Demonstrating Armenians started Wednesday morning blocking some access roads to the capital Yerevan.

The leader of the protest movement Nikol Pasjinjian announced Tuesday in a speech for tens of thousands of supporters that Wednesday morning would be started with the raising of blockades. He came with the appeal after the parliament had rejected him as prime minister.

Pasjinjian was one of the driving forces behind the protests against Serzh Sarkisian who was prime minister for ten years in Armenia. Following the protests, Sarkisian announced his departure last week. Pasjinjian was the only candidate to succeed Sarkisian. During a vote on Tuesday, Pasjinjian received only 45 of the 53 required votes.
