ANC supports motion against Zuma

The South African government party ANC will support a no-confidence vote against Jacob Zuma- the president of the country- on Thursday if it has not already resigned.

Zuma himself does not yet show that he will leave. He would have insisted on a transitional period of a few months, but the ANC could not agree to this.

Cyril Ramaphosa, the 65-year-old president of the ANC, is the most obvious candidate to become president of South Africa when Zuma leaves. The former anti-apartheid fighter Zuma became entangled in a series of scandals, which many other politicians have long since killed.
