Amnesty deprives Aung San Suu Kyi high price

Amnesty International has taken Aung San Suu Kyi, the government leader of Myanmar, her highest award.

'We are appalled that you are no longer a symbol of hope, courage, and standing up for human rights. Amnesty International can no longer justify your status as recipient of the Ambassador of Conscience Award. And that is why we accept the award with great sadness, '' writes Amnesty's secretary-general Kumi Naidoo to Suu Kyi in an explanation of the decision.
