Americans are no longer allowed to eat dog and cat

It will soon be forbidden for all Americans to eat dog and cat meat.

The slaughter of dogs and cats is rare in the United States and was already banned in slaughterhouses. But in some American cultures the slaughter and eating of dogs and cats is still sporadic. Slaughter is currently illegal in just a few American states, including New York, New Jersey and California.

The new law proposes that the maximum penalty for violation of these rules will be a year in prison. Animal welfare organizations have been working for years for stricter laws against the slaughter of domestic animals for human consumption. It is expected that a majority in the House will vote for the law.
