American marries with old tree

A 60-year-old American woman is married to a hundred-year-old tree in a park in Fort Myers, Florida.

'We heard that there are plans to cut a tree, and I thought: 'that is not going to happen'', Karen Cooper told ABC News. The woman has been living in Fort Myers for forty years, where many trees last year did not survive Hurricane Irma.

A project developer would have made the application. 'It is something terrible to consciously bring down a tree. And this tree is amazing, 'says the American, who says that the park will be empty without the tree. 'People get married in this park... but I am married to the tree. '

At least 80 local residents were present at the wedding. There was music, many flowers and good food. Cooper was brought to the tree by her best friend and witness. Little dog Little Bear brought the ring. The vows were read by the local DJ. Of course there was also a wedding cake, decorated with trees.

Whether the 'bridegroom' stays alive, is still unclear.
