Again many deaths from quake in Pacific Ring of Fire

In a new earthquake in Papua New Guinea, at least 25 people were killed in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The exact extent of the damage from the quakes is still unknown. The affected area is more than 500 kilometers away from the capital Port Moresby and almost all communication links have been broken. Roads are also impassable.

Papua New Guinea lies on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, where different tectonic plates collide. It is one of the geologically most active areas on earth.
